This online self-study course examines Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) practices in the U.S. Tax System.  This course will cover strategies implemented by a U.S. Tax organization in adopting ERM, the benefits of ERM, and the outlook of ERM within tax administration. This course will include review questions, a glossary, videos, exercises, and a qualified assessment (quiz) to help participants understand ERM practices.  


After completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of OMB Circular A-123
  • Define enterprise risk management
  • Identify the steps in a risk management process 
  • Describe the role culture plays in ERM success
  • Identify the levels of an ERM maturity model
  • Differentiate between a risk profile and a risk register
  • Identify methods for building an enterprise risk profile
  • Describe ERM practices in the U.S. Tax System
